Tuscan Sun by Alleged Stardom out of Cahaba Snow

16.3hh 2004 Thoroughbred gelding

Tuscan Sun (JC name Alleged Monarchy) originally came all the way from Texas. He then came to us after a brief and lackluster attempt at the racetrack. A big youngster with a Warmblood-ish build and swinging gaits with a lot of elasticity, he seemed suited for any discipline on the 'A' circuit.

His new owner, Nadiya, bought him with intended use as an 'A' circuit jumper once he accumulates more training. He is pictured here 2 months after purchase, schooling at his new home. Nadiya reports that she is "very pleased with his progress". We hope to see the pair out at shows next year. Congrats to Nadiya and her connections!

Clark Kent by Out of Place out of Emancipate

16.2hh 2000 Thoroughbred gelding

Clark Kent (JC name Tom Lane) was a robust and charismatic horse who came to us after several years off the track. He quickly became the farm mascot around here, constantly seeking attention and enjoying every minute of it! Endowed with a lot of suspension and presence, Clark was a magnificant horse to watch go. He was a beautiful specimen of the Thoroughbred breed, with his chiseled head, big round eye, and sturdy, solid build.

Clark was sent south to event country to be sold as an event horse, as he seemed most geared for that discipline. He quickly found a new partner with a 17-year-old event rider. Clark will make his debut in Spring of 2008 and we can't wait to hear about it!

Sweet Serendipity by Old Trieste out of Fashion Delight

2002 16.3hh Thoroughbred gelding

Sweet Serendipity (JC name Beware the Cracken, barn name "Pie") was a beautiful and graceful horse whose time here was cherished by his grooms and rider. Magnificantly bred, he was a grandson of the famous AP Indy on top and Fappiano on the bottom. Pie was a soft, loving gelding with a kind eye and a willing athletic way about him. He had the longest neck we have ever seen! He excelled in dressage and jumping, and had an athletic, easy jump with a very smooth way of going.

Pie was sold to Angela Thresher from Connecticut in October of 2006. She spent the first year schooling and showing dressage, and plans to move onto eventing for 2008. Angela writes: "Many people were ooing and awing over him at the show and my trainer was very proud to tell them that he was a 5 year old TB off the track. People kept saying to her that they didn't believe he was a TB - isn't that funny!" (Pie and Angela won 1st and 2nd place at this show.)

It just goes to show what a nice Thoroughbred can do!

Astronomical (renamed USEF Just My Luck) by Marias Mon out of With Penny's Luck

1999 16.2hh Thoroughbred gelding

Astro (JC name Ruling Monarch, renamed Just My Luck) was a very special gelding, with a heart the size of a small country. Not only was he smart, but he was also kind, and a gorgeous dapple grey! Astro was by the famous stallion, Marias Mon, sire of Kentucky Derby winner, Monarchos. Unlike his brother, Astro decided racing was not his thing. He came to us ready to start a new career in the hunter ring.

After a successful season in the Baby Green Hunter ring, Astro was sold to the Blackman family, to be a Childrens Hunter for their daughter, Sarah. Sarah trains with Patti Clark of Ev-Ry Farm. Just one week after purchase, Astro (now Just My Luck) and his 14-year-old rider won Grand Champion at their first show together! They ended up being called back for a Hunter Championship after their first season, where Sarah and Just My Luck placed 8th overall out of the top 25 hunters of the season. Congrats to Sarah and her connections and we hope to bump into them at a show soon to check them out!!!

Leonardo by Power by Far out of Proud Portia

2002 16.3hh Thoroughbred gelding

Leo (JC name Bassanio) was a lightly-raced gelding we purchased off the farm one Spring. Leo was a kind gelding with an easy-going temperament. He quickly adjusted to the hunter/eq. ring and was subsequently sold to a 13-yr-old girl named Alyssa, as a birthday present. We hear that Leo is getting spoiled with lots of presents and is currently showing with his new connections.

Belljar ("BJ") by Mr. Explosive out of Poison Arrow

2000 16.1hh Thoroughbred gelding

BJ was a sweet gelding who paid his dues at the racetrack. He came to us after his racing days were over, in search of a good home. Emmer Bernard had just tragically lost her horse to a pasture accident, and was looking for another horse. Although BJ needed weight and to be let-down, Emmer and her daughter Ryann, saw through his track condition to the handsome and willing horse beneath. They bought him on the spot, and he has since blossomed into a wonderful, giving and rewarding friend.

Like a Rock (Happy)

2001 16.3hh Thoroughbred gelding

Rocky (now renamed Happy) was a horse who was a special circumstance. After his lackluster race career, he was defensive and needed work on his ground manners. Despite it, he was very willing under saddle and displayed a phenomenal jump. We knew he would need an experienced handler, so when serious jumper rider Susan from MD came along with her trainer, Mehdi, we knew it was a perfect match.

Here Happy is shown with Susan schooling during their first winter together (those are 6' standards!). Happy and Susan are currently competing in the jumper ring, with goals to eventually reach 4'6". A big congrats to this special pair.

Pretty in Pink

2000 14hh POA/Welsh mare

Pretty in Pink (aka Frosty) was a POA/Welsh filly purchased as an unbroke 3-year-old from the breeder. She was the first horse Nicole saddle-broke, basically started from the ground-up. Frosty was a clever, athletic and willing young mare with a lot going for her. She had a wonderful jumping form, and a round little build. Frosty loved life and was always happy to go to work. Within a year, she was jumping around a 2'9" course like nobody's business.

Frosty was sold to a 12-year-old Pony Club rider at the end of the year as a first show pony.
